Rachel Emily Nichols was born in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of Alison and James Nichols, a schoolteacher. She is of French Canadian, German and Irish heritage. She graduated from Cony High School in Augusta and took part in the high-jump competition. Columbia University in New York City was where she graduated with an honors degree in math and economics. She started modeling and launched an impressive career as a model working for a variety of high-profile brands like Guess?, Abercrombie & Fitch and L'Oreal. Rachel decided to get into acting and was offered a part in the HBO drama Sex and the City (1998). This was her first audition. Her first film appearance was as Jessica Matthews in Dumb and Dumberer: How Harry Met Lloyd (2003). Her career was a success with her roles in projects such as The Amityville Horror (2004), The Inside (2006), Alias (2002), and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2008), Criminal Minds (2006) (a frequent part as the FBI Agent Ashley Seaver role) and Conan the Barbarian (2011). She was the lead character of a police officer Kiera Cameron in the science-fiction series Continuum (2012).Attended and graduated from Columbia University with a double major in economics and math.
