Renee Kathleen Zellweger is a daughter
of Kjellfrid Andreassen who was a former midwife as well as a nurse in Norway.
She was born April 25 1969 in Katy. Emil Erich Zellweger is her father. He is a
Swiss engineer. The two became married in 1963. Renee is a sister to a brother
named Drew Zellweger, a marketing executive who was born on February 15, 1967.
While in the drama club, Renee became interested in acting. In Austin, she also
attended an acting class and began to explore acting as a career. She was determined
to pursue acting upon graduation. But, Hollywood can be difficult to make it
into therefore Renee decided that she would stay in Texas and try out for roles
in Houston. In Houston, she was able to land roles in films such as Reality
Bites (1994), and Empire Records (1995). While filming the sequel, Texas
Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994), she befriended Matthew
McConaughey, another Hollywood rising star. Renee observed him working on a
film and auditioned. She was offered the role in Love and an offer of a 45
(1994). This earned her enough praise that she decided to move to Los Angeles.
She was then offered a role in The Whole Wide World (1996) which was the first
major break. Cameron Crowe was busy with casting Jerry Maguire (1996) in which
she starred Tom Cruise. Crowe was considering actresses such like Cameron Diaz,
Bridget Fonda, Winona Ryder, and Marisa Tomei, when he saw Zellweger's
performance in The Whole Wide World (1996). The audition was for Zellweger and
was convinced he'd discovered the perfect Dorothy Boyd. Renee was able to
follow her massive success with a handful of small independent films. After
receiving more praise from critics she was confident enough to return to the
realm of large-budget Hollywood films. Meryl Streep starred with her in One
True Thing (1998). Also, she acted in Me, Myself & Irene (2000),
opposite Jim Carrey, and soon after she began dating Carrey. She played the
title role in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
