Katey Sagal

Katey Sagal, a gifted and versatile performer capable of comedy as well as drama as well as singing, became a popular face in the late 1980s, when she appeared in the character as Peg Bundy, the eloquently outspoken, unorthodoxated Peg Bundy on Fox's Married... with Children (1987). In the course of the show's long run, she was nominated for three Golden Globes and two American Comedy Award. As well-known and well-known as her Peg Bundy persona was, Katey assertively moved on when the show ended its run on the air, not only starring in other sitcoms and television movies, but playing characters that were complete opposites to the outrageous character that first earned her nationwide attention. In 2008, she played the role in the role of Gemma Teller Morrow (the matriarch of the Hell's Angels-like California motorcycle group) on Sons of Anarchy (2008). Her portrayal won her a Golden Globe Award in 2011 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series--Drama. Catherine Louise Sagal was born on the 19th of January 1954, the daughter of director and singer Sara Zwilling and noted television and film director Boris Sagal. Born in Los Angeles, she started performing when she was five years old. She was a vocalist and studied acting at the California Institute of the Arts. She began her singing career as a waitress in her "salad times" and continued to perform in the band "The Group with No Name." Then she was fortunate enough to to connect with Gene Simmons (and his 1970s rock band KISS) and was able to secure an offer to work. While she was there she gained invaluable experience as a backup recording singer for Simmons as well as other well-known stars such as Bob Dylan, Olivia Newton-John, Etta James, and Tanya Tucker. She also performed live with Bette Midler as one of Bette's "Harlettes," in Bette’s avantgarde stage shows.
