Kym Whitley

  

Kym Elizabeth Whitley (born July 21, 1961) is an American actress and comedian. She is most famous for her work on television sitcoms like Animal Practice, The Boondocks, Young & Hungry, The Parkers, and Black Dynamite. Whitley received nominations for the 2004 BET Comedy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the Box Office Movie for her part in the character Ormandy in the 2003 comedy film Deliver Us From Eva. Whitley was born in Shaker Heights (Ohio) to Kaysonia Whitley. Her father was the founding partner of the black architectural firm Whitley and Whitley. Whitley and Whitley worked together in the construction of Tower City Center. Whitley was also involved in work on the Cleveland State University Convocation Center. Lincoln Junior High School. The Lee-Harvard Branch, Cleveland Public Library. Central Area Multi-Service Center. Also, the creation of the Cleveland Clinic Guesthouse. Whitley and Whitley also joined in a joint venture to build Jacobs Field (now Progressive Field), the home of the Cleveland Indians. Whitley graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1979, and from Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee in 1979. She was also incorporated into the Alpha Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. Whitley was able to make her debut in 1989, when she appeared in Shelly Garrett's popular play Beauty Shop. The show was first produced in Los Angeles and then traveled throughout the U.S. Whitley has also been a part of the sitcoms of short duration, Sparks and My Brother and Me.
